Running Recs is an easy way for teachers to check the results for a running record test of reading. Simply enter the number of words read, number of errors and the number of self corrections.

Running Recs will then feedback to you the error rate, percentage rate, self correction rate, and whether the text read is easy, instructional or hard.

Great for all classroom teachers who use Running Records to monitor student reading processes and achievement!

Pros and cons of Running Recs app for iPhone and iPad

Running Recs app good for

I downloaded this App three years ago and use it every day. An excellent tool to score my Running Records for Literacy Assessment. A must have for any Primary Literacy teacher! Bravo!
This app almost does everything that the very expensive Fountas and Pinnell calculator by Heineman does. The one piece of information it doesnt have is a fluency calculation as words per minute. To do this it would require a timer with start and end reading times. If the developer does decide to add a wpm feature, please fix a problem with Heinemans special purpose calculator. On their calculator the teacher must enter the error count quickly. Otherwise, it times out and shuts off. It sometimes times out before Ive had a chance to count all the errors in a long, complicated running record. Of course, those are the students for whom I need the best data. Add a words per minute fluency calculation and this app would be absolutely perfect.
